Over 25 years in health education
As an educator, I have been not just a teacher, but also a learner. Whether organizing or speaking for large organizations like the CDC, the American Cancer Society, the U.S. Air Force, or large hospital networks, I have always aimed to create a program that I would personally enjoy attending.
Experience has taught me that the success of an event hinges on the right speaker: Someone relatable, authentic, and inspiring, with a knack for quickly grabbing an audience, due to American’s ever-shortening attention span.
I have organized my speaking page to give you the flavor of my own work in hopes of making your search for the right speaker for your event as effortless as possible.

A little more about me
I have been speaking publicly for more than 25 years, for hundreds of companies and organizations. (Check out some of my past clients.) Along with keynote addresses, teaching breakouts, and workshops, I have appeared on numerous television shows, including PBS, ABC, CBS, The Food Channel and CNN, as well as scores of radio programs. For most of my career, I have focused on empowering and inspiring people from every walk of life to make lasting lifestyle changes. After 20 years of creating programs such as the award-winning LivingWell and Hawaii’s first Blue Zone worksite, I now consult for organizations both large and small on workplace wellness. I also maintain a private practice for individuals seeking health and life transformation.
I have also co-authored two books, Eating the Rainbow: Lifelong Nutritional Wellness-Without Lies, Hype, or Calculus (download it for free) and The Hawaii Pediatric Weight Management Toolkit. Right now, I’m passionately engaged in my favorite writing project to date, a book that will be called The Death of Me: How a Near Death Experience Taught Me to Live.</p>

For 14 years now, I have been happily married to Dr. Paul, a long-time professor who is just as passionate about education as I am about wellness. We live on the enchanted island of Oahu, Hawaii.
